7 steps to unf*ck your retention
This is why you don't have more views.
Hey there,
Here are the seven reasons people drop off your videos.
If you know all of these, you will be ahead of 99% of creators:
Step 1: You're Making Them Think Too Hard
If your content is too complex, their brain gets overloaded and they leave. Dense explanations without breaks exhaust people. Give them breathing room between heavy sections.
Step 2: You're Not Making Them Think Enough
If your content is too simple, their attention wanders and they click away. They need something to focus on. Make sure each part requires just enough mental effort to stay engaged.
Step 3: They Stopped Feeling Rewarded
People watch because it feels good. When that feeling disappears, so do they. Keep validating their thoughts, surprising them, or making them feel understood throughout the video.
Step 4: They Know What's Coming Next
When your video becomes predictable, people lose interest. They need to feel like something unexpected could happen at any moment. Break patterns before they get stale.
Step 5: Nothing New Is Happening
When novelty drops, attention drops. Every section needs to introduce something fresh- a new angle, a new example, a new way of explaining. Repetition without variation kills retention.
Step 6: They Forgot Why They're Watching
If the goal gets fuzzy, people leave. Keep reminding them what they're working toward. Make it clear how each part connects to the outcome they wanted when they clicked.
Step 7: You're Not Delivering What You Promised
If your title says "10 tips" but you're telling stories, people feel tricked and bail. Match your video structure to what your title promised. Lists need steps. Stories need progression.
Fix these and your retention fixes itself.
Until next week,
