how to force curiosity, every time
Summary
(est. 5 min read)
I will be going over:
How to attack anyone’s curiosity; putting them on the edge of their seat 🎯
My three-month roadmap to starting a new channel, the right way 📈
…and much, much more!
Actionable Tip
Your dream audience will NOT click based on logic.
Don’t tell them why they should click.
They will click based on emotion.
Will your video tell them how to achieve their dreams? Will it be an entertaining story to pass time? Or an emotional journey to feel something?
Understand your viewer’s intentions -
and sell them on why they should WANT to click.

Without fail, EVERY new creator follows the same path.
1) They identify subjects they enjoy talking about
2) They make content around those subjects
3) They complain about not getting views.
I kid you not - I have seen this pattern HUNDREDS of times.
And I beg for it to end.
For that reason, I’m sharing the answer.
The war of winning attention is won by manipulating curiosity.
When I first noticed this - it was a game-changer.
Let me explain.
The Common Pitfall
These creators are making two large, false assumptions:
1) Their target-audience is aware of what they will enjoy
2) Their target-audience is extremely passionate about the topic
The unfortunate truth is - very few people will be as interested in your topic as you are.
By doing this, you are ignoring 99% of your target-audience.
So, what do we do?
The answer is simple.
We don’t need to simply convince viewers to click.
We need to convince viewers to WANT to click.
Make Your Audience Actually Want To Click
Everyone knows the stereotype of the dodgy car salesman.
He comes across as desperate, and sleezy.
He tries to pressure you into buying a car that you don’t want.
Compare that experience, with going into a Ferrari dealership.
You walk in, and they say hello.
That’s it.
For the rest of your time, they will leave you alone.
It’s up to you to ask for information.
It’s up to you to take a look.
You feel far more convinced by the Ferrari dealership than our dodgy salesman.
Why?
People hate being sold to.
But they love making the decision to buy - when the decision comes from themself.
This is the same for your viewers.
Don’t try to sell them on clicking.
Sell them on wanting to click. The decision has to be made by them.
Give them just the information they need to know so that they can make an informed decision. Then leave it up to them.
This is a great fundamental - but it’s not the secret to forcing anyone to be curious.
Here it is.
How To Force ANYONE To Be Curious
People click - and watch - because they have questions they want answered.
Our job is simple.
To make anyone curious, we have to make them ask themselves the right questions.
There are three ways to force these questions:
1) Knowledge Gaps
Identify gaps in your target-audiences knowledge, and making them realise that they don’t know the answer.
Prompt them to consider the question.

2) Uncertainty
Uncertainty creates a desire to know the outcome.
This typically works best for stories or live-demonstrations - where the mechanism is something the viewer has considered trying for themselves. Your video will give them an idea of the results they can expect, and what they have to do to get there.

3) Novelty
Be different.
There’s a balance between novelty and familiarity - which can be tricky to master.
Your content has to be around a topic that your viewer cares about.
However, your approach to it should be new.

How To ACTUALLY Apply This To Your Channel
These three methods of raising curiosity are great to know - but they’re only effective if your videos are in a topic that interests the viewer.
Make sure that you understand your target-audience’s scope of interests.
E.g. if you’re a productivity educational channel - your target-audience’s common interests overlap with productivity.
Make sure the questions and curiosity is around the subject of productivity.
Use Your New Super Power Wisely
Over the past few years, YouTube has been extremely careful with moderating clickbait.
They have made SEVERAL algorithm changes to ensure that content only get’s pushed out to a broader-audience if it ACTUALLY DELIVERS on the promise it holds in the title.
To be on the winning end of this spectrum - and if you actually want your viewers to return - you need to actually answer the questions you raised.
Your Three-Month Roadmap
I've built several successful YouTube channels from the ground up. From faceless channels, to hyper-focussed personal-brands.
Instantly ignore everyone who says that YouTube is a long-term game. It doesn't have to be.
Failing to see results early on is the reason 98% of YouTube creators quit.
I'm going to tell you the exact blueprint to follow during your first three months so that you can actually get attention - and build a strong brand.
At the end - you will be convinced that YouTube is the correct path for you - and have the knowledge needed to take it further.
